Our Mission

Our mission, quite simply, is to help young people who want to succeed in television news. Whether you've already started a broacasting career or you're just about to graduate, we can help you climb the ladder of success in the most effective and efficient way.

You’ve recently spent four years and a ton of money on tuition to prepare yourself for a career in one of the world’s most exciting and rewarding industries. Chances are your professors have taught you good, solid journalism skills and ethics.

But chances are, no one has told you how to find a job in this industry. And a destination is worthless without a good road map.

There is no sure-fire way to land that first job, or any job, for that matter. But we can help you increase your chances by doing all the right things and avoiding the traps that often derail or slow down young people’s careers. We’ll help you answer these questions:

-How do I put together an effective resume tape?
-Who can help me produce a resume tape?
-Where do I find job leads?
-Should I ever call a News Director? And if so, what times of day and days of the week are best?
-What are the “tricks” to get your tape to the top of the stack?
-How should I dress for an interview?
-What can I expect during an interview?
-What should I put in my cover letter?
-How do I send my tapes without breaking my budget?
-How do I apply for a job that is not an on-camera position?
-What should I look for in an internship?
-Should I spend money on fancy resume paper, binders and picture portfolios?

Hunting for a job in television news is different than any other industry. Our coaches have been through it all; the trips to the post office, the middle of the night dubbing sessions, the interviews that went well...and the ones that didn’t. We’ve all made the mistakes we’ll help you avoid. We’ve also been on the management side; so we know what keeps the tape rolling and what makes a News Director hit the eject button.

Our coaches are here to help. We’ve done all the legwork so you don’t have to do it. The tricks of the trade are just a phone call away. So is advice. Got more than one job offer? We’ll help you sort them out. Not getting any response at all? We’ll tell you why and show you how to improve your chances.

Hiring a coach is an investment in your future. But remember, we're not agents or people who can wave a magic wand and create a job for you. We're not going to write your scripts, we're going to show you how to do it. You still have to do the work yourself.
